Tribal Manager Position Open


Our current tribal manager has left his position due to health concerns and to follow a different path other than political and administrative service on the behalf of the Cherokee People and the community.  Any person interested in applying for this non-paying position should email a resume to the acting tribal chairman at sischo.h@tribalgov.us  Applicants should be able to meet the following requirements, however, each applicant will be viewed as whole person; waivers of requirements may be granted on an individual basis:

  • A communicative level of knowledge of the English and Cherokee languages and a working knowledge of Cherokee culture and traditions.

  • A working knowledge of basic computer skills, including html, php, java, word processing and spreadsheets, in Windows and Unix (Linux) Operating Systems.

  • The ability to write effectively in the English Language.

  • The ability to honorably and respectfully represent the Western Cherokee People in both traditional and colonial (European) settings.

  • A working knowledge of State and Federal law.

  • A working knowledge of Diplomatic Protocol.

  • A degree in business or 5 or more years experience in organizational administration.

  • The ability to frequently travel in the states of Tennessee, Illinois, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama and the Carolinas without travel expense re-numeration.

  • The ability to be bonded.

  • No felony convictions in any U.S. or Tribal jurisdictions.

  • Have a positive credit history.
